Reunion V

Ahhhh Sunday morning: The worst part of any reunion.

As I went to bed Saturday night, I asked Dary if he wanted us to call him in the morning for breakfast, since we were all planning to meet and eat around 10. He, apparently appalled at even the thought of being awake that early, snickered a definite "No."

So, as we all stood around watching Gerri and Jim Oddone pack an amazing amount of stuff into their car, we wondered if Dary would be conscious enough to leave at noon, much less eat breakfast. Unfortunately for Dary, as I was saying, "Gee, he'd wake up and get moving if Julie called him..." the light bulb went on over my head. So, into Gerri's room I went. A lousy IG accent, soft-spoken voice and a quick mind go a long way to playing tricks on the boy. He believed <I> was the drop-dead gorgeous Julie. To his credit, even in is subconscious (subhuman?) state, Dary is ALWAYS working the angles!

When I (as Julie) asked if I had left my earrings in his room, he offered to let me come up and look for them. He also offered to let me keep him company while he got dressed (ahem!). Only later did it occur to me that the picture of the weekend would have been Dary's face as he opened the door, looking for lava lava love only to find KJ!!!! The horror! Alas, I'll have to settle for knowing that Dary managed to get dressed and over to breakfast in no time at all. And for knowing he didn't know it was me until hours later at the airport. Once again, Dary, the whole group was in on the joke! (I've gotta wonder, though, why Rick 67 refused to believe anything I said after that. Hmmmmm.)

Tummies full (we really should have told them we were coming, gang!) We headed across to do our goodbyes. Lots of hugs, address exchanging, etc..  Jim and Gerri were the first gone, and then the rest of us followed.

Dary, Tony, Kat's baby girl Ally and I all had flights out of Burbank within minutes of each other, so we figured we'd see each other there. To make great surprise and delight as I walked into the airport, I saw none other than Jim and Gerri. Wonderful!! They live near the airport and decided once they had unpacked to see if they could find us and say one more goodbye. As we stood talking and wondering the best way to find Dary and Tony, Dary and John trolled in. We all grabbed a table in the bar and ate and visited and found Tony, who had gone to drop off his car. Then Kat and Ally showed up. We had a bigger micro reunion at the airport than we had in Las Vegas!!

Soon, it was time to really leave. We went two ways to flights. As we walked down the concourse, Ally and Kat stopped first, then me, then Dary.  And then, there were none.
