The Learning Channel (TLC) featured Wurtsmith Memorial/Wagner HS in its Reunions program.  Episode #17 "Wagner High School" was filmed in California and South Carolina in the summer of 1998, and included great coverage of the Charleston Reunion.  The program was first broadcast on Thursday, 8 October 1998 with plans to air the show 5 or 6 more times during 1998.

Comments: My sister saw a program on T.V that was about reunions and what school was being featured none other than WHS, she got the web address and here I am.   The web page is really cool and a great idea. I hope that more people from the class of 73 start hearing about this. Thanks for setting up the web page.

Looking at the name tags before going to the airport.

interesting message!  is this the first lead we know about that came to us through the TV program?

BTW, John, I got the tape you sent and sat down right away to watch.  it was so much fun to watch, and what a clear copy!  my TV never looked so good!  thanks a million, it really made a wonderful treat over the weekend.

 TLC Incentive
Sharon....your "guestbook entry" was the precise reason that we agreed to do the REUNION show.  We thought that if it helped us to lacate ANY missing person from our rolls that it will have served its perspose for us.  We thank you for your comments and for getting on line with us.  The TLC crew was wonderful and it did not take them long before they were also caught up in the infectious sentimental emotions of the event.  If you would not mind passing along your comments to the the TLC folks at Banyan Productions in Philadelphia, they will be reminded of the importance of their work.

 TLC - New Registrants
Question:  since the TLC show, how many people have found us as a result?

Belden 75

Belden,

it's hard to pin down, but there have been at least a few who have mentioned it when they registered.  You can reread their comments from the guestbook.

There were also 5 non Wagner folks who wrote me directly.  They all said they envied our group and wished they were alumni!  I won't repeat what two of the female writers said <grin>.

To my knowledge, the program has run 3 times (it is repeated during the day it airs).  I was told by TLC that it would air 5-6 times during the season.  So there is a good chance we will see more registrants, particularly during the holidays
when more folks are at home to watch it.

Don't know if I mentioned this before, but the Executive Producer (Banyan Productions), Chris Emmanoulides, told me that they had pushed to expand our episode to 1 hour.  He thought is was one of their best shows!  I knew that, ha ha.

I also heard a rumor that our show was being nominated for a Cable TV award in the category of "Best Reunion Show Featuring a School Destroyed by a Volcano."  Ha ha.  Wouldn't that be something!?!
