HELLO FALCONS!!!!

I REALIZE THAT THE REUNION WAS SEVERAL WEEKS AGO BUT IT HAS TAKEN ME THIS LONG TO RECOVER FROM THE ADRENALINE RUSH I HAD FOR 5 DAYS. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ATTENDED--IT WAS GREAT SEEING SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD AGAIN AND IT WAS A KICK MEETING SO MANY WAGNERITES. WE COULD TAKE OVER THE WORLD IF WE REALLY TRIED HARD. THURSDAY NIGHT STARTED WITH A PARTY AT MY HOUSE WITH ABOUT 20 OF US MEETING, VISITING, EATING, DRINKING, SWIMMING, REMINISCING. THEN SOME, SPECIFICALLY, GAYE PERKINS PARNELL Ô74, LINDA VARGAS BUCKHAMMER Ô72 AND JIM COOK Ô75 WENT OUT HONKY TONKING. GAYE, I DO APPRECIATE YOU NOT LINE DANCING IN TEXAS--I WOULD HAVE HAD TO LEAVE THE STATE!!:) LINDA JONES DOMINQUE Ô68 MET UP WITH ROBERT WREXLER TUCKER AND SPENT THE EVENING AT THE CIRCUS WITH KELLY TUCKER--THE VIDEO WAS GREAT LINDA.

REGISTRATION STARTED FRIDAY AND WHAT A KICK TO SEE EVERYONE. I FELT SORRY FOR THE AMERICAN AIRLINES PEOPLE ON THAT FLOOR TRYING TO SLEEP. ALL THOSE HIGH PITCHED SCREAMS AS WE SAW EACH OTHER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 25+ YEARS MUST HAVE BEEN DISCONCERTING. I MUST SAY THAT WE LOOK EXCEPTIONAL. NO ONE WOULD EVER KNOW THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL GRANDMOTHERS IN ATTENDANCE! FRIDAY EVENING WAS SPENT AT THE HOTEL AT A COCKTAIL PARTY. SOME GOOD PICTURES, KAREN ROGG Ô80 GOT ONE OF THE ENTIRE GROUP--I AM ANXIOUS TO SEE THAT ONE UP CLOSE. AFTER COCKTAILS, ABOUT 30 HEADED OVER FOR REAL TEXAS BARBEQUE. FROM THERE SEVERAL PEOPLE WENT DOWN TO SIXTH STREET, AUSTINÕS VERSION OF BOURBON STREET ONLY MUCH TAMER. I HEARD RUMORS OF SOME PEOPLE UP UNTIL 5 AM TALKING--THERE WAS SO MUCH TO CATCH UP ON AFTER ALL THIS TIME.

SATURDAY SAW EVERYONE GOING OFF IN GROUPS--MOST OF THE CLASS OF Ô71 HUNG OUT AT THE HOTEL, I DONÕT KNOW WHERE EVERYONE ELSE DISAPPEARED TO--ALTHOUG

THE HOTEL DOES HAVE A SHUTTLE, SO YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK WITH THEM WHEN MAKING YOUR RESERVATION THEY MAY RUN ON AN HOURLY SCHEDULE OR AS THEY ARE NEEDED.

FOR THOSE OF YOU COMING IN THURSDAY, DWIGHT AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY AT A PRE-REUNION GET TOGETHER AT OUR HOUSE. IT IS ALSO CALLED THE LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING HAPPENING HERE 6TH STREET HAS LOTS OF CLUBS-JAZZ, ROCK-N-ROLL, COUNTRY, NEW AGE, GRUNGE, YOU NAME IT. THERE ARE ALSO A FEW PLACES OFF OF 6TH STREET THAT ARE VERY MELLOW WITH JAZZ AND CIGAR BARS. DRESS FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WILL BE CASUAL SLACKS AND SPORTS COATS FOR THE MEN AND DRESSES (NOT COCKTAIL UNLESS YOU WANT TO DRESS UP) FOR THE LADIES. WE DO NEED TO BE THINKING ABOUT OUR NEXT REUNION WHEN AND WHERE. THERE HAS BEEN TALK OF AN ALL SCHOOL REUNION IN EITHER 2000 OR 2001 IN EITHER CALIFORNIA OR CLARK. WE MAY WANT TO HOOK UP WITH THAT BUT WE MAY WANT TO GO AHEAD AND PLAN OUR NEXT REUNION FOR OUR YEARS (1970-1974). 1998 REUNION - WEB SITE - DONATIONS - NEWS - LOST FALCONS - PERSONAL USE ONLY - PREVIOUS

GREETINGS FALCONS:

THINGS SEEM TO BE FINALLY COMING TOGETHER FOR OUR 1998 REUNION HERE IN AUSTIN. THE DATE IS SET FOR THE SECOND WEEKEND IN JULY--ADMITTEDLY IT'S HOT HERE THEN, BUT EVERYTHING IS AIR-CONDITIONED. I HAVE MADE ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE HOLIDAY INN NORTHWEST. THIS HOLIDAY INN HAS 191 ROOMS WITH A LARGE BANQUET ROOM THAT WILL ACCOMMODATE 200+ PEOPLE. RIGHT NOW WE ARE PLANNING ON TRYING TO GET EVERYONE ON THE TOP FLOOR THAT HAS A SMALL CONFERENCE/MEETING ROOM THAT WE CAN USE FOR VISITING. THE ROOMS WILL BE ABOUT $85.00 FOR A DOUBLE ROOM WITH SATURDAY'S DINNER RUNNING ABOUT $20-25 DEPENDING ON THE MEAL AND IF WE HAVE A DJ--ANY THOUGHTS ON DANCING???? FRIDAY NIGHT WE'LL HAVE A CASH BAR WITH HEAVY PUPUS. THAT SHOULD RUN LESS THAN $20.

THERE WERE 2 REUNIONS HELD THIS LAST SUMMER, THE CLASSES OF 66-72 AND 63-66 HELD A JOINT REUNION IN COLORADO SPRINGS THAT WAS APPARENTLY OUTSTANDING AND THEN THE CLASSES OF 86-MT PINATUBO HELD A REUNION IN LAS VEGAS--I HAVEN'T HEARD TOO MUCH ABOUT THAT ONE YET. I HAVE TOLD EVERYONE WHO IS IN CHARGE OF ORGANIZING THEIR YEARS THAT EVERYONE IS WELCOMED TO THIS REUNION. THE NUMBER OF WAGNERITES IN TEXAS IS AMAZING--I WOULD GUESS ABOUT 25% OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE REGISTERED SO THIS MIGHT BE A GOOD OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE OF US IN TEXAS TO GET TOGETHER REGARDLESS OF CLASS. THERE WAS MINI REUNION IN FLORIDA EARLIER THIS YEAR THAT WAS WELL ATTENDED. AND THAT'S ANOTHER STORY...

WHEN I SENT OUT THE FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER I WAS UNAWARE OF THE SCOPE OF THE ALUMNI ORGANIZATION. THESE PEOPLE HAVE PUT TOGETHER AN OUTSTANDING WEB SITE WHICH INCLUDE A DIRECTORY, A MISSING WAGNERITE PAGE, MEMORIES, A MEMORIAL PAGE, PICTURES, LOCATORS, AND MORE. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT http://www.whoa.org. I HAVE SENT MY MAILING LIST BUT THIS IS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO UPDATE YOUR INFORMATION, FIND OLD FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT ON OUR LIST AND BROWSE. THEY ARE REQUESTING VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS. I HAVE BEEN PLEASED AND SURPRISED BY THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE FOUND ME THROUGH THIS WEB SITE. A LOT OF YEARS HAVE THEIR OWN PAGES AT THIS SITE. FROM OUR GROUP, WE COULD USE SOMEONE TO DEVELOP A CLASS PAGE FOR THE YEARS 1971, 1972, AND 1973. THERE ARE PAGES FOR 1970 AND 1974 ALREADY--IF THOSE ARE YOUR YEARS, CHECK THEM OUT. AS AN ASIDE, I SEND A COPY OF THE LATEST NEWSLETTER TO THE WEB SITE UNDER REUNIONS. ALSO, IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS REUNION, WATCH THE BULLETIN BOARD FOR INFO ABOUT OTHER REUNIONS, THERE SEEM TO BE SOME PLANNED FOR ALMOST EVERY YEAR AND IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE COUNTRY.

IN REGARDS TO DONATIONS, I'D LIKE TO THANK THE FOUR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SENT ME MONEY--IT WAS VERY HELPFUL. I WILL BE SENDING OUT THIS NEWSLETTER TO THE ENTIRE LIST, BUT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEND ANY MORE DIRECTORIES WITHOUT A $10.00 CONTRIBUTION TO COVER MY COPYING AND MAILING COSTS (FOR > YOU FOUR WHO SENT MONEY--YOU'RE COVERED). WE MAY WANT TO CONSIDER SOME TYPE OF DUES IN THE FUTURE--WE'RE THE ONLY GROUP WITHOUT ANY.

TALK HAS BEEN BRISK ABOUT AN ALL-SCHOOL REUNION. MS MUNN MENTIONED ONE IN HER QUESTIONNAIRE, AND NOW WITH THIS WHOA.ORG THERE IS FINALLY A GROUP THAT COULD GET IT ORGANIZED. IS ANYONE INTERESTED IN WORKING ON THAT??

NOW THE NEWS, WE HAVE AN ALUM WHO IS LIVING IN MANILA AND HAS BEEN TO CLARK RECENTLY. HE GAVE A VIVID DESCRIPTION OF THE BASE. THERE IS A HOLIDAY INN RESORT JUST OF THE MAIN PARADE GROUND AND THE OFFICER'S CLUB IS NOW A CASINO. WAGNER WAS COVERED WITH 2-3 FEET OF WHITE ASH. APPARENTLY THERE IS SOME PLAN FOR THE USE OF THE BUILDINGS BUT BOB COULDN'T TELL WHAT THE GOAL WAS. SOME BASE HOUSING IS BEING SOLD AS VACATION HOMES OR AS A NICE GUARDED NEIGHBORHOOD. CLARK HAS BEEN DECLARED AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ZONE SO THERE ARE A LOT OF DUTY FREE SHOPS. BOB SAID THAT THE DEVASTATION CAUSED BY THE ERUPTION WAS MORE EXTENSIVE THAN HE HAD REALIZED AND IT WAS TAKING A WHILE FOR THINGS TO GET STRAIGHTENED OUT AT CLARK.

BECAUSE OF THE WEB SITE, I WON'T BE PUBLISHING LOST FALCONS IN THE NEWSLETTER ANY MORE. THERE'S A PLACE FOR THAT ON THE WEB SITEAND I'LL BE KEEPING THAT UPDATED.

ONE LAST NOTE AND UNFORTUNATELY A COMMENT THAT SEEMS NECESSARY:PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THESE NEWSLETTERS, WEBSITE AND ALL ADDRESSES ARE FOR YOUR PERSONAL USE ONLY. I HAVE BEEN ASKED BY SEVERAL PEOPLE TO MENTION THAT THESE ADDRESSES SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR ANY BUSINESS VENTURES BY ANY WAGNERITE OR THEIR FAMILIES.

KEEP IN TOUCH AND WATCH THE WEBSITE. MY E-MAIL ADDRESS IS KESB1@AOL.COM.

1998 Reunion, Austin, Texas

Deceased Members - New Business - Donations - Reunion 2001 - Bad Addresses - Lost Falcons

Yes Yes Yes--I have finally gotten to the next newsletter--Please forgive me--I really meant to get it done sooner but the "Best laid plans". Good news and bad news--the bad news is we've lost a lot of people. I have enclosed a list of Falcons that I have bad addresses on as well as the usual suspects (long lost Falcons). The good news is that I have gotten a wonderful response from people who actually got my first letter. Everyone was pretty much in favor of having the reunion here in Austin--it looks like it may be the most cost effective location. The weekend was about equally divided with the 2nd and 4th weekends getting the most votes. So I chose the weekend of July 10, 11, and 12th. As Nancy Anderson Degner pointed out, Texas in July can be hot, but early July is still pretty nice.

I am starting to look at hotels--primarily at suite hotels such as Embassy Suites, Residence Inns, etc.--these usually have good deals, free breakfast and small living areas--great for reunions when there is a lot of visiting going on.

One of the good things about hosting the reunion is getting to talk to everyone--Steve Parsons called right after the first letter--he was about to retire from the Army after 20 years (has it been that long!!!). Tom Denman called--he and Kelly are doing great--he's still in the military. Tom Rutherford called about 3 nights ago--he's in the military and travels a lot TDY--so you never know when you might hear from him--he takes his mailing list with him--yes Tom there is someone in Wichita Falls--had a long talk with Bob Levoy--he's retired from PR work with entertainers (I can't wait to hear the details) and is about to move to Branson, MO and invest in a hotel (could this be the site of our next reunion??). Jan Farrell Olafson is happily married and living in Arizona and loving it. Her son is about to be married. I talked to Sandi Thomas Telzrow recently and she's getting ready to send her first child to college. I'm amazed at how many of y'all have kids either ready to get married or going to college--when did y'all get so much older than me?--I'm still trying to raise my husband. I see Nancy Anderson Degner every year when Dwight and I go snow skiing in Colorado--How about another Colorado reunion, but during ski season?

Jim Cazel is living in Hawaii (reunion there?) and is a photographer. What a deal. Jim--send me what info you can on ordering prints, etc. Bull (Robert) Durham is still in Florida living on a farm--he sells Peacocks and is a fire marshall. Mary Martin Turner and family are in Georgia--she's still part of a tax support staff and training director for a business services there. Gordon O'Neill is now on the school board (he was always political). Betty Trent is here in Austin--in fact she was our architect when we remodeled our house--she and my husband were in a business group together for a couple of years before I met her and we found out by accident that we're both Falcons!!

I got lots of news from '71 people but not much from the other years. I will make it easy for everyone to contact me--I now have e-mail-- it's Kesb1@aol.com--I've even thought about trying to set up a chat room--any interest??

More bad news. We had at least 2 deaths since we last met. As many of you know Joanne Buzzell passed away the weekend of our last reunion in San Francisco and Michael Marucci passed on in December of 1995. They'll be missed.

Now on to new business--I've had several people contact me saying they didn't graduate from Wagner, but left after their Junior year or whatever--come--you're still Falcons--we'd love to have you. Another issue raised was an all Wagner reunion--it's a great idea, but definitely one that requires a committee--it would be impossible for one or two people to try to organize such a reunion. I have been getting a lot of information from Wagner faculty and from organizations such as Overseas Brats. A lot of schools have logos, newsletters, treasurers, dues, etc.--there would have to be some type of organization in place in order to plan and host a successful all Wagner reunion. I will be sending this letter and addresses to the people responsible for the classes before and after us and invite them to join us--but I won't be able to maintain a mailing list or try to contact all the years.

Bob Levoy has graciously volunteered his time (he's retired, on the internet and looking for Falcons). If you want to send names to him--he'll be glad to do the legwork. He needs names, last know towns, any information you can pass on. Here's a great opportunity to find lost friends.

On this mailing list, please check it over and see who's missing. Look for any of your brothers or sisters--I see an address for Pat Fish, but not Leroy Fish--where is he--let me know. I want to send out short updates every few months, but I need more addresses. Every time you run into a Wagnerite--ask them if they know about the reunion and if not--get their name and address and send it to me or give them my name and address. There are so many of us in California, Florida, Washington DC and Texas that I have names of--there must be many more whose names I don't have. Also, I noticed that the majority of names I have are for classes '70-'72. We need more '73 and '74 people--it would be nice to have a good representation from each year.

Tom Rutherford had some good ideas for the reunion, such as having a phone in the banquet room Saturday night so people who couldn't attend can call in and say 'hi'. Betty Trent volunteered to organize a tour of a local winery (for those of you who didn't know--Texas has some great wines!!). We won't be having expensive outings--I can arrange for tour of the LBJ Library or State Capitol if anyone is interested. For those people who like live music--Austin has some of the best live music in the country --everything from jazz to country to classical to rock--not to mention great dance halls. As we near the reunion, I will get a few options together--there will probably be lots of people here with cars so we can buddy up to get to places. If people start arriving early--Dwight and I want to have a party at our house Thursday night. However we can only entertain about 100 people--and I expect a big turn out for this reunion--it's been too long since we've been together.

I would like to thank Steve Lowery for sending the first check to help cover expenses. Since I own an office supply. I get the paper, labels, envelopes and copying for free--my main expense right now is postage. So any money sent to me will be gratefully accepted.

Finally--if anyone wants to host the next reunion--now's the time to start thinking about it--central part of the United States seems to be best--anyone interested in the year 2001???

I am really enjoying this and look forward to hearing from y'all. See you in Austin in '98 (can you believe it's been sooooo long since we graduated????)

I found that a lot of the addresses I have are bad addresses with no forwarding order. I am including just this list of names--for everyone on this list, the original letter was returned to me with either bad address, or no forwarding, or something of the sort. Please look through the list and let me know if you have current addresses on any of these people

Okay--so our next assignment are actually lost and I haven't heard from in years. This list may be someone you work with now--think about it--how many times have you run into someone you knew at Wagner while at the mall or shopping or visiting mutual friends. Let's make a real effort to get as many Wagnertites as we can find--there are computers now. Bob Levoy has volunteered his time and internet to search for people--if you've ever tried to find someone, the internet is an easy way to go. These names are in no particular order.
