The adopted one from Charleston
I just had to say what an honor it is to be adopted into the 60's clan. What a thrill it was to meet some of my "heros." I know I will miss someone - but what fun it was to be with Barbara Long, Dizzy Lizzy, Jean and Gene, Dianne, Tom, David K. and his wonderul wife, the young Donna 61, aka 81, Kandy, Barb, Jerry Long, Jimmy and Ruth Kent, my neighbor Dusty, Doug, Debbie, Artie and the Char sisters - just to name a few. I didn't mention John - that's a given by now.

I am most definitely looking forward to my future after seeing such energy, talent and love that you all possess!

It was worth it to go out of my way to pick up Gary, Woody and Alex - even if we did take the scenic route of South Carolina. :) It was such a pleasure to really get to know these great people - and I would even have driven further out of my way to be in their company. And of course I HAD to see Sumter, SC while I was there - nothing like seeing corn, corn, corn, the Exxon man - oh yeah - and Quig and his family. And I even survived Salli's driving! Miracles happen! lol

Ardis will post more that goes into some history of the trip - but I also have to say a BIG thank you to Ardis for sweating in the SC hot sun to change my tire and to be willing to go on "casual strolls" early in the morning with me.

This has been the best summer in a long time for me because of you folks. Life is great!!!

Girl! You have more energy than any 4 people I know and because of you I am entering an aerobics class. I have joined a Gym, to shed a few pounds and the aerobics are just for you.

I will be in San Antonio next year and I WILL BE READY FOR YOU. Accept this challenge, and meet me in SA. Don't make me wait another year or I swear I will take dancing lessons.

Gaye,

honey, what a joy you are to have around! Please come to every one of our future reunions (hope there will be many for all of us!). BTW, the pre-60's clan also adopted you (classes of 57-59 were there too!). I have this wonderful picture of you that stands out in my mind when I think of Sat. night on the USS YORKTOWN----you dancing away (wow, what energy!) in your pretty dress with that beautiful smile! What a party, and I am so glad you were there! So glad to have finally met you and happy you are home safe and sound. See you at the next reunion!

Hugs,

Thanks (Gary McClellan '75)
Once again, I want to thank you for making the effort to be here in Charleston. It was important for so many people to be able to meet the guy who created the possibility for events like our Charleston Reunion. You are a gentleman for whom I have great respect and admiration and I am happy to call you my friend....my only regret was that Liz was not able to be here with you to receive the accolades that you both deserve...please give her my regards and tell her that I look forward to seeing her the next time.

Yay Harmonica Gary (McQuaid '64)!
Gary Baby! Hurray! You're here now. It was so great to meet you at Chas. Your music was so touching and hanging out with you was a blast. See ya later cutie!

Love, Dizzy Lizzy66

Liz, Thanks for your thoughts. I certainly did not expect such a response from tooting my harmonica. As I told John Prunier, y'all blessed me all over more than any place else when you began to sing. That was a very special moment.

Sorry, I didn't spend more time with you at Ch. especially when a beauty like you refers to me as CUTIE!

John Prunier, Thanks for the note. After one week of down time, I came back on line and found 135 messages waiting in my mail box, mostly congratulating you. Sooo, I'll add mine--Ditto. When y'all began to hum "Amazing Grace" along with me, I was amazed, but when Art Weiss '63' came strolling out with his guitar and called for and other verse and everyone began to sing--I was overwhelmed. The singing of that moment still rings in my ears. I did not know until the "official" pictures were posted on Sunday PM that you had also brought your mandolin. Thanks!

May the blessing of the Lord be upon you and may he establish the work of your hand.
